I’m running for Secretary of the California Community College Association (CCA). The election takes place on April 25, 2026. If you are attending the Spring Conference, please stop by my campaign table and say hello. Let’s learn about each other, what we stand for and how we can work together to support our union goals.
Who am I?
I am a part-time instructor of philosophy at Chaffey College, Crafton Hills College, and Victor Valley College. I have served since 2023 as Director F for the CCA, representing: Barstow, Copper Mountain, San Bernardino, and Victor Valley Colleges’ faculty unions. Since June of 2025, I have served as the Chair of the CCA Communications Committee. I am also currently serving on the One Tier Task Force. I live in Victorville with my husband, three lovable children, and far too many pets.
Why am I running?
I believe that the CCA is composed of dedicated professionals from the bottom up; our membership drives our decision making within CCA. And yet we have struggled to act effectively because of persistent communication gaps between our committees, our locals, and our leadership. I want to create the communication infrastructure that makes information pass seamlessly between all of our leaders so our right hand knows what our left hand is doing.
What will I commit to doing as secretary?
As Secretary, my goal is to build infrastructure so communication does not depend on individual effort. I will:
- Attend Council Committee meetings as the Communications Committee liaison
- Create a Presidents’ listserv so Presidents of chapters can communicate directly with each other
- Return to the practice of creating a “Board Report for Chapters” so Directors can easily pass on information about the Board’s activity (board sessions and board committee work) to their chapters
- Loop in Committee Chairs to the “Board Report for Chapters”
- Create listservs for At-Large Directors so members of these affinity groups (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Part-Time, Women’s Empowerment) can easily communicate with their representatives, and advertise these listservs at the Communications Table at each conference
- Create listservs for committees so members can communicate ideas directly to those committees
- Implement a secure Document Management System (e.g. Seafile) so members can easily access documents appropriate to their level of permission (member, director, officer, etc.)
- Work with CTA staff and the other officers to simplify and streamline our MES reimbursement process so MES’s can be submitted online and documents can be uploaded through the portal
- Improve our archiving system through use of a secure RMS (e.g. Paperless-ngx), and maintain a backup
- Improve our integration with CTA/NEA resources so our members can fully benefit from what our parent organizations offer.
As your Secretary, I will build transparent systems that allow our union to communicate clearly and act collectively, so CCA can act as your megaphone.
